How to Get to Puerto Viejo?

Driving:

It will take 5 hours to drive from San Jose to Puerto Viejo

(due to current construction to widen the road between San Jose and Puerto Viejo

the drive may take longer with delays)

You can have our Property Manager Nina help you book your transportation.

 

Options are:

 

$ Shared Shuttle leaves the airport at 2:00 pm each day.

$$ Car Rental (you drive)

$$ Flying down from San Jose to Limon in a local charter 

$$$ Private Car (you have a driver)

Driving DIRECTIONS:

Google Maps to:  CASA LUNA BEACH HOUSE, Limon Province, Costa Rica (NOT just Casa Luna). This will take you right to the house.  We are right beside Hotel Perla Negra.

Google directions from the Airport

Flying:

(small plane from San Jose Airport to Limon Airport)

It will take 3 hours door to door if you fly from San Jose to Limon and then take a shuttle to Puerto Viejo.

Please note - we recommend booking a hotel in San Jose if you arrive at the airport after 3pm. The best time to drive down to Puerto Viejo is from the early morning until around 2:00 pm.  There can be lots of traffic on the road down, trucks and tourist traffic.  Another suggestion is to drive down very early in the morning to avoid the inevitable daytime slowdowns.  We also find that driving down Saturday or Sunday mornings are often best as the Truck traffic is much less busy.  We do not advise driving at night because roads are not well marked (if at all) and they are not well lit.

Laundry service available!

We supply Laundry service for our guests.  Please speak to Nina, our Property Manager to have your laundry done.  There will be a small fee for this service.

Taxis & Tour Bookings & Bike Rentals!

Nina, our Property Manager will give you a list of trusted taxi contacts when you arrive.  These numbers will also be listed in our Guest Welcome book.  Nina has owned and managed www.geckotrail.com travel company for over 10 years.  Please speak to her directly about booking transportation or any tours or excursions in the area.  Don't hesitate to ask her for advice on popular places to visit or things to do.  Bike Rentals are available just down the road from the house at Banana Azul Boutique Hotel.  

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancel your booking - 90 days before you arrive (100% refund minus a $200.00 administration fee); 59 - 30 days before arrival (50% refund), after 30 days no refund.  Cancellations must be made by 12:00 PM on the appropriate day.

  • Check in time anytime between 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm (after 7:00 pm there will be a late arrival fee).

  • Check out time is 11:00 am.

  • We ask that children of our guests be supervised around our pool and the balcony railings.

  • Please note that we are not responsible for weather conditions, flight cancellations, illness or any other reason for cancelling.  We strongly suggest purchasing cancellation insurance from your country to cover any unforeseen reasons for cancelling your trip.
