A story ...

The Chaos was maddening, I felt depleted, out of contact, missing the essential energy of living my life.  I was afraid, confused and unchallenged.  I longed for adventure but wasn't sure how I was going to find it.  I was tired of my life, feeling trapped and worried all the time.  Change is good I told myself.  But this change?  Is it good?  Oh how I longed for escape, freedom, challenge and self reflection.  I reached out into the darkness and grasped at a glimmer of hope.   An event I'd read about.  A Virtual Retreat in Costa Rica.  Online - yes but well planned daily activities I can watch and participate in live.  I'm smiling again, I feel the bond with new friends and new ideas, I'm feeling free, challenged, intrigued and excited again for the first time in months.  This Virtual Retreat takes me to the exotic, shows me adventures and teaches me things I never thought I'd learn from a special place I've created for myself in my own home.  I'm grateful, thankful, thrilled and full of hope again.

“Women need solitude in order to find again the true essence of themselves.” â€• Anne Morrow LindberghGift from the Sea

PICTURE THIS:

You land at San Jose, Costa Rica airport.  You are met by a smiling face who helps you gather your bags and get to the Retreat Transportation.  You look around and see women like yourself getting into the van.  You smile and feel welcome.  You arrive at a Glorious Beach Front Retreat Centre.  You feel intoxicated by the laid back vibe, fresh perfumed air and the exotic sounds and feel of the Jungle.  You look around and take in the abundance of exotic birds and wildlife. You breathe in the sea and feel the ancient magnetic, volcanic sand beneath your feet. You'll feel the rejuvenating magic that the sea can give us.  Suddenly, without warning you feel relaxed and the stress & tension begins to melt away.

At the Renew and Replenish Retreat you'll rediscover how to get back to yourself.

This is something you do for YOU! Only you!  Delicious fresh whole local food, Excursions that will fill you with wonder, awe and positivity, local speakers/dinner guests & mentors will help you see how differently life can be lived and daily classes that include, dance, rejuvenating breath work and mediation (simple tools you will take home with you to use whenever you need to be reminded of your replenishing adventure) Free Time to explore. Walk the Magical magnetic black beach - You'll find yourself releasing tensions, de-stressing, breathing deeply, laughing out loud, feeling happy, healthy and surrounded by adventure and wonder. You will meet women who will inspire you, challenge you and enlighten you! You will leave this paradise with new friendships and bonds, refreshed, peaceful and ready to take on the World.

Why Costa Rica?

Exotic Costa Rica, is a very small country, the size of Denmark.  But it packs a huge punch.  The "Switzerland" of Central America.  It offers us much to see and do - Jungle, Adventure, Excitement, Peaceful, Energizing, Laid Back, Exotic and Intoxicating. CR isn't an inexpensive country to visit, it's not a 3rd World country and because of it's long established tourism and reputation for being safe it has been visited & populated by travellers from everywhere. Many Travellers visit and never go home. The travellers and locals own tour companies and travel companies, vacation rentals, resorts, retreats, restaurants, bars and adventure tour destinations.  Because of this there are instilled North American & European safety and health standards in place.  This makes CR very popular as a luxury, high end, travel destination amongst World Travellers.  You'll see when you visit that Costa Rica is surprisingly sophisticated and very well established.  Travellers have been building homes and visiting Costa Rica for years because it offers them empty pristine untouched beaches and, unlike Europe or other destinations, it is not insanely crowded, overused, dirty or dangerous.  This is NOT a run of the mill Caribbean Island, it's not Mexico or Florida!  (been there, done that!) This is the Rain Forest in a far away land.  Just above Panama and South America in Central America, Costa Rica spans the West and East coast and is a beautiful and diverse country. It's people are friendly and welcoming they speak Spanish and English so it's very easy to communicate.  Interesting fact: The country doesn't have an army as it's never had conflict with other countries or within it's own borders.

The lifestyle is contagious, laid back, relaxed and balanced.  Recently reported as one of the most desired tourism & retirement destinations World wide as well as having some of the happiest, healthiest people living there. A developing and rapidly growing country, currently Costa Rica is one of the most popular tourism destinations in the World.  It's popularity comes from it's established eco tourism, biosphere and untouched natural beauty.  People from everywhere visit, live (retire) here for a reason.  Costa Rica has been a well kept secret among travellers who have been visiting for years. It is not full of all inclusive, gated resorts or communities! It has managed to maintain it's jungle, rain forest and eco beauty alongside creating a wonderful welcoming and varied tourism infrastructure. Sophisticated, exotic and grounding it's not only beaches, its glorious mountain get a ways, lakes with views that take your breath away, breathtaking National Parks, secluded get-a-ways and funky beach and mountain towns.  These towns have great restaurants (fresh, whole, organic food is abundant here), amazing adventure tours, hikes and parks.  You will see animals you've never seen before, an abundance of monkeys, sloths, aardvarks, ant eaters, tucans, parrots, macaws, turtles, iguanas and so many more.  It's one of my favourite places in the World.  Take a step over to the Wild side with us.  You won't regret it.

De-stress & find Clarity

We've planned outings, adventures, taste sensations, wonderful treats, cool surprises, activities and plenty of spare time for you to enjoy your surroundings and take some time for valuable self reflection and guided meditations on the beach.

All while enjoying the wonderful, whole, fresh, local, delicious food prepared by our European Chef and Expat Sara (who is in demand and booked at retreats all over Costa Rica). Chef Sara is from Spain. She has been a Chef for many years in Europe and now Costa Rica. She is looking forward to providing us with some delicious local meals. Sharing her European/Central American influence.  She prides herself on using only local produce, spices and herbs that are 100% organic. Her local connections and experience cooking all over the World brings us local flavours as well as some tried and true old World recipes. Sara will be providing a Supper cooking class for us where we will prepare the dinner together as a group and learn how to create delicious dishes using local fresh ingredients. She too has wisdom to share being a mother, business owner and busy in demand Chef living in Puerto Viejo.

We will be visiting some of my favourite restaurants in Puerto Viejo for our welcome and departure dinners.

Classes with Meg Williams from Modalities that Heal at our house will be either Meditations, Dance or Breath Work.   With Meg as your guide you will learn to develop skills you can use to manage your stresses and anxieties anywhere.

Beach Puerto Viejo_edited.jpg
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

Louise loves Puerto Viejo so much she's built a Vacation home on the beach there. She has been organizing some of her favourite things to see and do in the area.  With our private guide and transportation - We will hike, kayak, sup, explore, walk the beach, take classes together, catch up and explore. You will have plenty of free time to eat, shop, book an excursion or just hang out on the beach.  We will meditate, dance, do yoga and learn how to breath and relax!  We will take you to some of our favourite restaurants.  We will taste the wonderful variety of organic chocolates available locally and have an amazing tour of a local Organic Cacao Farm & glorious water fall.  You will see Tucans, monkeys, sloths and iguanas as well as an amazing array of birds and other indigenous animals.  Oh, there is so much more for you to see and do.

You can stroll along the Playa Negra (black beach) in front of the house and absorb the magical magnetic energy. Wander the empty beach every morning with Louise or sit by the sea in quiet contemplation. Breathe in the rich rainforest vibe and feel the stress and tension leaving your body.

We will be staying at the Gorgeous

ABOUT
Your Host
Louise

Louise worked in PR, Marketing and Sales for many years. At 40, tired of the Corporate Grind, Louise shook up her World and went back to school and became a Registered Massage Therapist.  Now, 15 years later, Louise has recently embarked on yet another adventure. Owning, building, renovating, promoting and managing Vacation Rental Properties, speaker and retreat leader.

She discovered Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica with her family 10 years ago and fell deeply in love with the jungle and the sea and the Pura Vida vibe. She and her family find their peace there.  On the beach, SUPping down the rivers, Kayaking, swimming, walking, riding bikes and exploring restaurants and new adventures.

Louise comes to Puerto Viejo as often as she can to refill her cup.  Once this is done she finds she's able to head back to her busy North American life with strength and peace.  She believes that life gets busy and we lose sight of the wonders right in front of us, the things that bring us joy.  Louise feels that Puerto Viejo allows you reconnect and see these wonders. It's truly a magical place.

Nina is deeply involved in the local community, she is conscious of the local environmental impact and the rapid growth of Puerto Viejo. She has chosen an alternative education for her son with a cooperative community group (she helped set up) that shares the educational responsibilities. ABOUT
Your Guide
Meg

Meg considers the raising of her 4 children (those that know her husband might say “5”) to be her most treasured accomplishment. She enjoyed this time immensely, and being the “doer” that she is, combined it with several jobs along the way that provided personal growth, challenges, and income. Before her first child was born she worked in the airline industry; then she chose work that would allow her to simultaneously raise her kids with her husband, as well as be productive, including that of a personal trainer, fitness and dance instructor, and even real estate sales.

Meg has always espoused freedom, yearning to explore and experiment with life and all of its beauty. In step with this mindset, she and her husband sold basically all they owned and set out on an adventure, trekking through Central America like a couple of twenty-somethings with a bad case of wanderlust, armed with nothing but a backpack or two and a willing spirit. When the dust settled, they found themselves enchanted with a sleepy little village on the Caribbean in Costa Rica called Puerto Viejo, so much so that they eventually moved there and began a new life.

But it wasn’t all roses along the way; in fact, in 2015 Meg had to deal with what many consider to be the most painful experience possible on this planet, the death of her oldest daughter Hannah. There was no blueprint on how to recover from such pain, the devastation so paralyzing, and yet Meg made the decision that she would pour all that she had into healing, to life. Though she had almost no hope at the start of the journey, the total renovation that followed regenerated her soul and ushered in a new and beautiful perspective on life.

Meg wanted and needed healing, of course, and instinctively aware that she couldn’t simply rely on her preset paradigms, she began searching for new tools that would first allow her to cope with her pain, and then hopefully create new paths to awareness and healing, not just for her ruptured heart, but also for her mind, body, and spirit. Today she is a magical example of how pain can be transformed into beauty and life.

Welcome to Modalities that Heal, an eclectic mix of breath work, movement, meditation, and other tools joyfully used to help change the worn out stories that we have imprisoned ourselves with, stories of who we are and who we should be. Meg now helps others embrace and navigate through life changes, grief, and other issues on the road to healing.
